Our Objective: to keep building on recent research

Come help us present, discuss and build on recent research into the story of British and Colonial traditional whaling and sealing and twentieth century Australian whaling and sealing.  We are interested in voyage events; the ships; men and women; the business and technology of traditional whaling and sealing; and, of course the whales.
And why not spend the weekend before in Hobart!

Travel to Hobart in early May is off season and airfares and accommodation will be good value. Come early and visit Salamanca Markets on Saturday morning or wander the seafront from where Hobart's whaling fleet once sailed.  Or visit some of Hobart's great museums - MONA - the Maritime Museum of Tasmania or TMAG (Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery).  Or, go beer, wine, whisky, cider or cheese tasting in the Coal River or Huon Valley regions. There's plenty to do in Hobart.
